I don't belong here but I'm here anyway....Actually I bribed Jackass by offering him a free week with my wife...She doesn't know it yet! Trying to find a way to break it to her...

So Background: I am a former athlete. I played some college football. I lifted just for fun for years after football was over. Then about 3 1/2 years ago I finally got the balls to try a powerlifting meet. I totaled 1749. Not too bad for a self trained, half-assed, broke-dick truck driver. So I've been training and competeing when I can. My best lifts are Squat-1036, Bench-622, Deadlift-733 all at SHW. I have totaled elite at 308 and at SHW. Being 6'3", I now just compete at super-fat-ass.

I recently started a new job (not truck driving!) and I have taken about 2 months to adjust to it. I'm just now starting to get back into some "real" training. My next meet will be Jan 25th at the USPF American Cup in Los Angeles, Ca...Goals for the meet: 925, 688, 777 or what ever I can do to get 2400 in single ply.

I will post some recent training...feedback is always welcome, remember, I'm still kind of a rookie.

Shirt work

Warm up to 405 x 1
add shirt
455 x 3
495 x 3
565 x 1
605 x 1
635 x 1
all about a inch to an inch and a half from touching. Fuck this was really easy....staying out of the shirt and doing raw stuff has been working so far. Now I need to start shirting up every one to two weeks instead of once a month. Starting back to some "real" lifting...sort of.

Very Close grip 4 boards
405 x 10
405 x 8
405 x 6

Green band press down
2 sets to failure (about 80 reps)

S-bar curls
4 sets x 20-15

One arm overhead db press
2 sets x 20

squat

Squats, raw, walked out
work up etc...
465 x 2 x 2
505 x 2 x 2
555 x 2 x 2
505 x 2
add a low box
405 x 8 x 2
I finaly got some speed towards the end. It's time to stop fucking around and just do some ugly work on the squat. Taking lifts in gear that you aren't going to compete in and trying singles all the time is eventually counter productive. With the single ply squat, it all starts with a solid, deep, raw squat for up to 80-90% of your raw max for doubles....day one!

Pull downs - neutral grip
5 sets x 20-10

Back raises
45 lbs x 3 x 10

Bench abs
135 x 15
225 x 10
225 x 10
225 x 8

Hex holds
35 x failure
45 x failure

Rack lock-outs--7 inch rom ( for me anyway!)
315 x 3
405 x 3
455 x 3
505 x 3
545 x 2
One of my training partners got this for 3 then went up to 585 x 3...he has f'n flippers for arms and he will soon hit some big numbers. He is a young beast in the making! We will unveil him in Jan.

Barbell military press
135 x 15
185 x 12
205 x 10
I was supposed to do more but damn I was tired..started my shift at 4Am this morning! Weak!

Face pulls
3 sets x 20-30

Reverse barbell curls
2 sets x 20-25

Like Jesse, I'm currently training in a garage...But that's cool: No shitty music. Ever!

No silk but I'd pick up some silk boxers if you'd come visit more often.

Blue collar? Is this because of the rocking denim squat suit?

Yes Mark. and maybe Marcus....It's more the way I approach training and life. Nobody gives you anything in life or on the platform...ya gotta work for it..HARD! BTW That is the only double ply suit I have ever worn in a meet and it still works great. Karin makes a good squat suit!

Deadlit asst.

Paint numbers on my new rack...messed up and had to start over.

Pull downs
5 sets x stack x 10

Seated rows
4 sets x stack(ish) x 10

Hamstring curls on a ball
3 sets x 20

Pull down abs
4 sets x 150 x 10-15

Babrbell sleeve holds
3 sets x 2 plates x failure

DB side bends
3 sets x 115 x 12-15 reps

wide grip barbell curls
bar x 30
95 x 3 sets x 12-15

I've decided, after talking to one of the worlds foremost dealifters (Jackass!), that I will do a pussy style assistance day for deadlifts every 2-3 weeks. This is the way it looks I guess.

Not easy to avoid the fun of a deadlift party, but it will pay off.

Thanks Smelly! I'll try to stay within a hundred lbs of your raw bench...

10.19.08
Squat

Barbell squats
warm up to 455 x 5 raw
add big, old Titan single ply suit
505 x 2
555 x 2
straps up
595 x 2
645 x 2
685 x 2
705 x 1
705 x 1
All deep. Very easy really. Just getting used to a single ply suit again. I'll have briefs, knee wraps, and a much tighter suit for the meet so this isn't a bad start...going back to raw next week.

45% Back raises against a blue band
3 x 10

Chest supported rows
1plt x 10
2plt x 10
3plt x 10
4plt x 10
5plt x 6

Decline abs w/ a 45lb plate on my face.
3 x 10

Hex holds
40lbs x 2 sets x failure
